In the Lunigiana and Candia land the
terraced vineyards, which have been wisely cultivated for
centuries, follow the traced route of the ancient Francigena
road which led from Canterbury to Rome.
Pilgrims, merchants and armies from all over Europe have
passed through these valley, prayed in the ancient parish
churches, slept in the manor houses and tasted plain dishes,
the first expression of a long wine and gastronomic tradition.
Together
with this over the centuries winegrowing and wine producing
have improved and produced excellent wines, today bearing the
DOC quality trademark such as the “Candia dei Colli Apuani”
and the “Colli di Luni” and the IGT quality trademark such as
the “Val di Magra” and the “Toscana”.
All these wines, as well as the other local typical products
are unique items with peculiar qualities which result from
both the character and the personality of the producer.
